FAQ

Water boiler and tea kettle in the old shape – for good reason

These kettles have a very traditional form and for a very good reason: they have to heat great quantities of water in a short period of time with the least energy. For that the shape must have the least surface area and the largest base, because the heat is conducted through the bottom of the kettle, as you would wish, and is radiated by the surface, as you would rather not.

What else? A spout with a high, upward bend so the boiling water won’t squirt out and a rigid handle to safely carry the kettle. That’s the very good reason why we offer such kettles in the traditional form.

An ornament. A Japanese tea kettle.

This traditional Japanese tea kettle is made of cast iron so the tea water can be directly boiled in it at minimum heat. And after tea has been made, it can be kept warm on a low flame on the stove. It takes getting used to, but fill the kettle only two thirds and when the tea has steeped, pour it out quickly.

An important tip:

This kettle is not suited for a gas stove.
